Karamo Jawara (33) has joined the Fyllingen Lions! Jawara has signed for the rest of the season and will contribute to both the Basketball League Norway (BLNO) and the European North Basketball League (ENBL).

A Key Player
For several years, Jawara has been a key player for the Norwegian national team, including when the team restarted with a home game against Kosovo in Haukelandshallen in the fall of 2021.

An International Career
Karamo began his career with Frøya Basket, debuting in the BLNO for his hometown club before heading to the United States in 2011 to play college basketball at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). After college, he continued his career in European basketball, playing in countries like Romania, Greece, Italy, Canada, and Cyprus before embarking on a longer stint in Spain in 2019.

One of the highlights of his career was the 2021/22 season when he was part of the team that secured Bàsquet Girona's promotion to the ACB League, Spain's top division. Last season, he played for Club Ourense Baloncesto in Spain's first division.

Karamo was one of the first Norwegian basketball players to step into the European basketball scene, paving the way for today's generation of overseas professionals in Norwegian basketball.

A Meaningful Comeback
After retiring last season, Jawara took an extended break from basketball. However, the passion and drive have returned. Ending his career in Bergen while also playing European basketball feels like the perfect choice for Karamo, who wants to give back to the city that has given him so much.

“I’m back to play with friends and people I grew up with, while also finishing my career with European basketball. It means a lot to me,” says Jawara.

With his extensive experience in European basketball, Jawara will bring strength under the basket and leadership both on and off the court to the Lions. In addition, he is an excellent role model who will inspire children and youth in Bergen’s basketball community.
