Fyllingen Shines Early But Falls to Bristol Flyers
A Battling Performance Against Tough Opposition
Fyllingen Lions delivered a stellar first-half performance but ultimately fell short in a hard-fought game against the Bristol Flyers. Despite leading 67β66 with just 6:40 left on the clock, the Lions fell to a late surge from their opponents, losing 86β76 after the Flyers nailed four decisive three-pointers in the final minutes.
βWe fought hard, but several players had to log over 35 minutes on the court, and we ran out of steam towards the end,β said head coach Calix Black Ndiaye.
Seasonβs Best First Half
In front of an enthusiastic crowd of 700 fans at Haukelandshallen, Fyllingen arguably delivered their best first half of the season. They went into halftime trailing by just one point (45β44) after leading by as many as nine points earlier in the game (39β30).
βI think our team is improving every game,β Calix noted. βWeβve shown great progress in the BLNO as well. Overall, Iβm very pleased, even though it came down to small margins today.β
Standout Performances
Dashawn Davis and Nikolas Skouen led the scoring for Fyllingen, while Joel Kanyinda electrified the crowd with a spectacular block, crucial steals, and some thunderous dunks.
Overcoming Adversity
The Lions faced the challenge of competing without key players like Bouna Black Ndiaye, Oliver Bojang Visnes, and Peter Bullock, who were sidelined due to injuries. Although the Flyers were also missing important players, Fyllingen has endured a tough December marked by several unfortunate absences.
The team continues to demonstrate resilience and growth, with the support of their passionate fans proving vital as they push forward in the season.
