Fyllingen Lions Finish Oslo Weekend with Double Victory
After a marathon clash with the Asker Aliens on Saturday night, where the Fyllingen Lions emerged victorious after double overtime (109–103), the league leaders followed up with a gritty 70–62 win over Bærum Basket at Nadderudhallen on Sunday.
Bærum came out strong, erasing Fyllingen’s early double-digit lead in the first half. By halftime, the score was tied at 39–39, thanks in large part to an impressive performance by Bærum captain Stian Mjøs, who knocked down 5 of 7 three-pointers and tallied 17 points in the first half.
The turning point came in the third quarter. Fyllingen tightened their defense, holding Bærum to just 7 points in the period while scoring 16 themselves. This defensive lockdown created a lead that Bærum was unable to overcome, leaving them chasing for the remainder of the game.
“Our game plan was to limit Mjøs’ three-point shots,” said Fyllingen captain Eric Fongué. “We struggled with that in the first half, but we got it under control in the second.”
Despite coming off an exhausting double-overtime game the night before, the Lions refused to let fatigue be an excuse:
“Sometimes we lose focus and allow teams to come back—it’s more about lapses in concentration than physical exhaustion,” Fongué added. “Both Asker and Bærum did a great job challenging us this weekend.”
Key Players:
Nikolas Skouen led the Lions with 17 points and 5 steals.
Dashawn Davis, who dropped 40 points against Asker on Saturday, had a quieter outing with 11 points.
The Fyllingen Lions maintain their top spot in the standings with a 17–3 record, four points ahead of the Kongsberg Miners.
Upcoming Showdown:
Next weekend, the Lions face a major challenge as they host second-place Kongsberg (15–5) in Fyllingsdalshallen. The game, scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 PM, promises to be a battle for the top of the standings. To defend their position, Fyllingen will need to replicate the defensive intensity that secured this weekend’s victories.
