A Celebration Of Community & Gratitude
Last night was a celebration of gratitude, community, and a shared love for basketball. During our latest ENBL game, the Fyllingen Lions had the honor of presenting a gift to our main sponsor, Louise Mohn, and Meteva Sport og Helse. This was a symbol of our appreciation for their support in strengthening the basketball community in Bergen. This evening was about more than just one club or one game. It was about an entire basketball community coming together and creating opportunities for the next generation.
What made the night even more special was the presence of the Mohn family, who have long been dedicated supporters of the sport—not only as sponsors but also as active participants in the basketball community. Louise Mohn’s children are passionate supporters of the Fyllingen Lions, and their love for the game was sparked by none other than our very own, Peter Bullock, one of the club’s icons. Years ago, Peter introduced the Mohn family to Saturday basketball practice at Hjellestad school, igniting a passion that has continued to grow. Today, Peter carries on as a coach for Ytrebygda Lakers, where he mentors young players. Likewise, our own Pol Olivier Cañadell plays a vital role in shaping the next generation as a youth coach for Ytrebygda Basketball Club, under the leadership of Arne Ingebrigtsen.
Ekaterina Mohn was also in attendance, accompanied by her children, including her twin daughters, who play for Hop Basketball Club under the guidance of our team captain, Eric E. Fongué.
Role Models
Fyllingen’s Peter Bullock, Eric E. Fongué, and Pol Olivier Cañadell are mentors, coaches, and role models who dedicate themselves to teaching talent. Many of our players are actively involved in Meteva Sport og Helse’s initiative, BasketAkademiet. This program fosters an inclusive and inspiring environment for children and youth in Bergen. Founded and supported by Louise Mohn, BasketAkademiet is a groundbreaking program that unites clubs from across Bergen to promote collaboration, develop talent, and provide young players with a safe and motivating sports environment. Fyllingen’s Bouna Black Ndiaye, an Administrator at Meteva Sport og Helse has also added a new and international level at the BasketAkademiet with the Spanish Club with Eze from Getafe, and they are working on organizing a camp here in Norway.
Unity
Last night reflected the growing unity of the basketball community coming together. From BLNO rivals, Frøya Basket, Gimle Basketball Club, to others who set aside competition for a share love of the game.
We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and generosity of Louise Mohn and Meteva Sport og Helse. Their support has helped create something far greater than just a team—it has built a movement that will shape the future of basketball in Bergen.
