Basketball Unites: Fyllingen Lions and Gimle Basket Visit International School of Bergen
This week, the Fyllingen Lions and Gimle Basket joined forces to create an unforgettable experience at the International School of Bergen (ISB). Though these two teams often battle it out as fierce competitors on the court, they set rivalry aside to promote friendship, unity, and a shared love for basketball.
During the lunch break, students from both the Lower and Upper School got to shoot hoops, learn skills, and enjoy a special basketball session led by the players. Laughter, cheers, and the unmistakable sound of bouncing basketballs filled the gymnasium as students and athletes came together.
As part of this inspiring visit, the teams distributed free tickets to their upcoming games, encouraging families to come out and support their local basketball community.
The day also marked a special announcement: Arne Ingebrigtsen and Coach David from Ytrebygda Basketball Club revealed plans for "After School" a new program launching in January 2025. This initiative will provide free after-school basketball lessons on the ISB grounds, making the sport accessible to more children and inspiring them to stay active, learn new skills, and connect with their peers.
βThis is what basketball is all about,β said Arne Ingebrigtsen. βItβs more than a game; itβs a way to bring people together, to teach values that last a lifetime.β
The school visit between Fyllingen Lions, Gimle Basket, and Ytrebygda represents how basketball can serve as a powerful tool for building bridges and inspiring the next generation. Todayβs visit wasnβt just about hoopsβit was about hope!
We hope to see you at the next game.
