A Night of Triumph and Inspiration For The Younger Generation
It was a night to remember at Fyllingsdalshallenβboth for the Fyllingen Lions and for the clubβs youngest talents. On the court, the Lions went up against the relentless FrΓΈya team in a thrilling 68-65 victory, while the next generation of Fyllingen basketball players got their moment in the spotlight.
Up To The Final Buzzer
The Lions seemed in control for most of the game, leading by 14 points early in the third quarter (46-32). But FrΓΈya refused to fold, battling back with key rebounds and clutch three-pointers to keep the game alive until the final seconds.
With 17 seconds left, Jacob Tryon hit a sensational three-pointer to bring FrΓΈya within two points at 67-65. Shortly after, Nikolas Skouen was sent to the free-throw line with a chance to seal the win. He made just one of two free-throws, leaving FrΓΈya one final opportunity. With 9 seconds on the clock, they called a timeout and to prepare for their final move. JΓΈrgen Lamo got a last-second three-point attempt offβbut the shot missed! The crowd erupted as the Lions held on for their 19th win of the season.
Dashawn Davis led all scorers with 20 points, but the gameβs biggest hero was Lars Mensah Espe, who delivered 15 points, 8 assists, and 8 steals, causing chaos for FrΓΈya with his relentless defensive pressure.
Upcoming Games
The Fyllingen Linos hit the road against Nidaros Jets (Saturday, 1st February) and Ammerud (Sunday, 2nd February).
With just four wins needed in their final eight games, the Fyllingen Lions are closing in on the league title.
The Youth Take The Center Stage
While the Fyllingen Lions fought for victory, another group of younger Lions got to experience a dream moment. Before the game, the U9 and U11 youth Fyllingen Basket teams ran out onto the court alongside the BLNO players, stepping into the spotlight and sharing the stage with their local idols.
With wide-eyed excitement, they stood under the bright lights, looking up at the players they hope to become one day. It was a special reminder of what Fyllingen basketball is all about - inspiring the next generation and creating a supportive basketball community.
The Fyllingen Lions are incredibly proud of our youngest players and always welcome more kids to join us!
